The road to Ghandruk is only for 4wd (even though local buses go up, it a bit to much for non 4wds).
The owner of the little shop just a bit underneath the Ghandruk bus stop let’s you park next to his hut for only 50Rp per day. They even have a tarp to cover parts of the car against dust. They live there and always look after the car. NOT for big rigs, quite a bit of dust up there.

We are German travellers with a truck. Our embassy don't help with a Letter of Introduction! No explanation! So we tried it without the Letter - and finally we got our visa! Be always friendly, patient and stubborn. Try to pass the Lady at the first counter, look for someone else. Explain your situation, ask for the possibility to speak to the ambassador or his representative (very kind guy), and if you are lucky you get the visa immediately. You can pay now at the embassy! Finally tooks four hours...

The very friendly Lady at counter 6 knows what you need to leave Kenya to Ethiopia after passing Lake Turkana. Stamped our passports out even four weeks before our visa were finished.

This campsite is the best camp site I've ever been to and it was free coz it was low season. I couldn't believe the immaculate conditions it's kept in low season too. Clean and well maintained toilets, showers, shelters, access to water, mown grass, good gravel and the entry to the Cascadas Escondida trail.

Like mentioned no beautiful views but rather sheltered from the wind. At exactly 11pm the wind stopped completely and you could hear some boats. No sign of hyenas saw some flamingos and some small snakes.

felt super safe and it’s easy to go to the town center from here.
Little recommendation: take UBER for 3$ to the oyster bar for some cervezas. there are almost just local People and good Music

Nicely protected campspot by the forest road, almost no traffic, very quiet. Wet and muddy due to constant rain.

Absolutely delicious Lebanese food. We each had a felafel wrap (100 pesos each) one with pesto, one with the best babaganoush ever. Cannot recommend this place enough. No photos because devoured it straight away

We stayed at the campsite early in the season. Price CLP 10.000 for 2 persons and a van. The very friendly owner provided us practically unlimited firewood for 3000 CLP. Beautiful lake sites, view and access. Cleanliness mediocre, don’t be afraid of stepping in cow shit on the grass. No hot showers.

Beautiful campsite in the tropical rain forest directly at the beach. Like all sites in the Queensland National Parks pre-booking is required. We had site 8: a large place well sheltered from the wind with some shadow. Places 11-14 have direct sea view, but also much more wind.

Disbursed established tent camping available, but hard to find. Large carpark great for RV or van parking/camping with pit toilet. No fire rings at parking area. Note that the road that goes futher into the site is only good for 4WD in winter.
