I updated the location. It is along the ring road, under the lights. Not the dirt road opposite.
We slept at the dirt roads first. A police officer came by and said we could stay but would better if we go to the lots under the lights. He said it is safer than the dirt road in the dark.
Quiet place. With another camper at same night. Actually you can park almost anywhere in this park. Only beware there are "No RV" signs in a few places.

Great location on a hill with a view over Gembu. This guesthouse is inside the perimeter of a large hospital and was adviced by an immigration officer as being the safest place in town. It is run by Dan, an American guy who lives here. He and the guesthouse employees are very welcoming and helpful, a perfect place to get advice on how to get across the border.
Basic rooms with bathroom are 4500 Naira per night. Rooms are large, quiet and clean, no need for an airco in this area.
The restaurant serves cheap and tasty food, e.g. 500 Naira for beef and rice, 100 for an omelet and 1200 for swallow and chicken.
Staying here helps getting this great hospital funded!

Nice spot between the dunes. Only a few minutes from RN1 but hardly seen from the road. No 4x4 needed. You can also spend the night behind the dune a few meters away if you have 4x4. No facilities. No noise. Might have some dromedares passing by...

Place still vague on payment. There’s an empty and a newish looking sign but we didn’t see anyone pay or have tickets? We parked along the street. It was quiet enough and there was plenty of space. Great location as it’s only a short walk to everything.

We spend a quiet night here. It is close to the road, but not that noisy inside thre car.
Some noise from the nearby amusement-park, but nothing that would disturb you (or us).

Great spot, a bit of noise from the road but that is to be expected. Toilets just a 2 min walk away. I recommend putting up window shades for all the light from the street lamps as well as for privacy. A fair amount of people come here for their morning walks.

You can’t get there by way of google maps following these GPS coordinates. Locked gate with cattle on the other side. Also you have to drive through a junk yard if you go the way google says. Looking for other routes in.

Update: go down county lane 21 to get to the camping area. 2-3 bars Verizon. Grated dirt area for parking and camping and fishing.

We didn’t stay though.

Agrotourismo. € 25,- rooftoptent + car and 2 persons (€ 30,- for camper). including WiFi, very clean amenities, hot showers, fridge and freezer, common room, grill, electricity.

Nice quiet site, situated near Lucca. Warm welcome from the host. Continental breakfast is around € 6,-. There is also the possibility to have dinner (you need a reservation). A bottle of the house wine (own produce) was €7,-.

We stayed one night after a nice day in Lucca.

Simple camping is 150! The guy at the reception (owner?) was the most rude guy I've ever met. I've had a problem with my credit card and when I asked if I could leave my heavy backpack there to go find an ATM he denied and told me to find another place. So I did, and it was much cheaper and way better welcoming. Seriously I was too tired to tell him off but I was never treated like that. Thanks for nothing fat*ss

Our camper’s table was broken and we took it here for repair. Very good job and efficent! Highly recommended. Ask for Rene and discuss the price with him. He’s not cheap but not expensive either, considering the quality of the job.
If you have dry toilets you can also get sawdust (aserrin)

We did not stay as the entry gate is very low, maybe 2,50m. But: Its a nice and well kept place, now charging 50pp. It is, however, also a party place so expect quite a bit of noise. Dogs are apparently 10$ per dog, which seems crazy - I am sure you could negotiate. They do have a good happy hour, ok food & it‘s one of the most popular hang outs at the moment.

Apparently it is not possible to stay here anymore. At the beginning a worker said it was 45q pppn + the same for our dogs (!!). so we left, but after not finding an alternative we went back wanting to camp there. at the gate the owner said we couldnt. he was quite rude to be honest. other backpackers we met also said they had a bad experience with the owner, didnt feel welcome and left after one night.

we then met the son of the owner at driftwood during our stay: he said that they had too many bad experiences with campers so they don’t want them anymore. shame, it seems to have been a nice place!
