What an amazing camping! We've almost let some "roots" there and were sad to leave after 5 days there ☺️ (when we were supposed to stay only 2 or 3 nights...)
Very friendly and helpful staff, everything clean and well-built, beautiful place, very good location...
According to us, the best place to stay with a tent or a motorhome in the chapada 👌

NO CAMPING. It is beautiful, but at these coordinates there are clear government “no camping” signs. The BLM.gov website has a map and this area is in the red (no camping) due to it being a Bighorn Sheep habitat. Yes there are a couple fire rings that folks have made; however those are in spite of the signs that make it clear that there is no camping. There is a small space (~.3 mile) where you can legally camp before you reach these coordinates; however the spots require an off-road vehicle & cell service is spotty. Save yourself the miles of washboard road and camp elsewhere. Or come here to enjoy the views and then camp elsewhere. (Lone Mesa isn’t too far from here and still free/allowed)

beautiful camping spot right at the edge of the cliff. This is a place where fishermans have their stuff but we were the only ones.

You can hear the interstate from the parking lot. Relatively quiet and dark. Management said to park as far away from the restaurant and is close to the hotels near the grassy area in the back.

Stayed one night in our 23' campervan. There were still small trucks coming in and out at 7pm, but majority of workers had driven off street by 5pm. very quiet at night, some highway noise. Workers began arriving at 6:30 a.m. the following morning but we were not bothered. Not bad!

We stayed here after reading the previous post. The ablutions and camp kitchen and bbq areas are lovely, spotless and all well maintained. There were only a few other guests so it was very quiet. Showers 20c per 3 minutes. Paid $29 plus our coins for showers. There are two different short town tours available from this campground and both look to be excellent value at $45 for 3 hours. Highly recommended.

The best support point we had in 8 months - until now - travelling by Brazil.
We were received by Gabi, who is a great person, nice company, and made us feel home.
We were just passing by the city, but stayed here for 2 nights.
Before you come, send a message to her To know if she is avaiable To receive you. If yes, she will be the best hostess ever.
To complete, they have 5 cute dogs - you will definetly fall in love by Thor.
Thank you a lot Gabi, and family! ♥️

Juan is an Overlander that's travelled all around south america and now lends his land for people to park. We spent a couple of nights here and felt very welcome. He lent us the washing machine and shared some food. He is happy to recieve travellers anytime. Grassy, flat, nice shade and safe.

We booked for 3 nights but only stayed one. The ablution block is really nice and modern but the campsites are too close together and they were too close to the road for us.
The owner, Kirsty, is living in Australia which we found strange.

Stayed several nights. Several other vans. Clean bathrooms at Cracker Barrel. No issues. Used outdoor showers at nearby beaches (before they close) and then drove here to park for the night.

Volcanic Crater about 2 miles off Historic RT 66.
Rough road up, but can be handled by any vehicle if you go slow. Lots of BLM land before the crater, but plenty of parking spots and camping locations if you go up. The property is marked private, but the gates are open and the public does have access. I spent one day and two nights here exploring all the lava tubes and the craters ( one major one and multiple smaller ones)

We came here because we saw the lake in maps (we realized after the other side was registered), we took the first left dirt road at the entrance of Rosendo Salazar (electric cable are very low clearance but we did it shortly with our 3m50 high rig). We followed dirt road until we could not anymore... Very nice place but after some hours we saw some tiques in our bed... Because we have cats and dogs we did not realized first... But first morning we went to walk and suddlendy, less than 2 min, I was all covered of tiny tiny tiques (smaller than sand... about 300). It is due to the numerous cow and horses here all around... Not good to stay this side of the lake so we decided to leave ASAP (even having a recent Frontline treatment all our animals are now covered... Not cool).

Great place to crash for the evening, right off the highway, close to Keystone. Relatively quiet and as mentioned- two porta potties on site and quite a few other vans/campers were here for the night.

Thanks Mike and family for allowing us to stay on your property! The entrance was a little hard for us to find at first (we arrived in the dark) but directions to the location where to set up our camper were easy to follow

Unrestricted residential parking but at the end of the street here there is a stretch with no house so you're just parked in front of grass instead of in front of houses. Quiet street at night. Nice view of ocean. Note that people do walk by on the sidewalk early in the morning once it gets light out. It's a good spot to pull up to at night and leave early in the morning.

Beautiful spot to camp. Plenty of space, nice scenery and had good cell service for T-Mobile. High clearance is somewhat necessary, but my 2WD van made it just fine.

Tried going into the State Park for a hike & a shower, but the gates are closed off. We tried calling the number on the sign but it is currently closed off to visitors due to covid.

Still $15 to dump. The gate staff told us this is only for the dump station and does not allow you to stay in the park for the day (which would be another $15 entrance fee). No one is monitoring the dump so I imagine you could pay the $15 park entrance fee and sneak over to the dump, just sayin’ I wish that is what we would have done. Potable water is also available.
