After finding a parking place and walking to this pin we couldn’t find anything in the area and it was quite far from the nearest Correro Argentina mentioned in previous post - after searching through google maps I imagine it could be a place called Dietetica Magnolia which is about 550m away and opposite one of the nearest correros- just updating this incase someone else decides to go to all the trouble like I did (was very excited for tofu and tahini haha )

Very nice and impressive rock formations. Can be entered by car. If you do not go for a walk it is a short and very photogenic detour.

Went today, the road is open, there is no snow. Road is in a very good condition, no need for 4x4 until ypu reach Laguna Azul. 4x4 very much needed to reach Balcones. The road that seems to be main was closed due to snow that was not cleaned so a bit of improvisation was needed to get up to the balconies. Guys who were there with tours helped us get our 4x4 up. Peolle who came with regular cars parked them at the bottom of steep climb and went up by foot, it is a short hike (but probably not easy as it is at 4700m).

In the back of McDonald’s there is a dirt lot with a sign for semis and rvs and no signs for no overnight parking. I was passing through the area and just needed to sleep for the night. No one raised an issue. very quiet

Great overnight spot. Large level gravel lot just before the bridge. Drove 39 foot VR to the boat launch without any problems and great spot to watch the sunset. picnic table on the dock. There's also a garbage bin and portapotty. No signs anywhere saying no overnight.

Very, very nice place to be. Amazing view. Quite a few locals came here to check the view. Talked to a super friendly woman and got great tips for our next stops. She did not seem bothered at all. Highly recommend this!

Privacy: limited- the site overlooks the town of Gardiner, so how you park your vehicle or set up your tent will determine the amount of privacy
Ease of access: moderate (I based this on the fact that the road is steep, gravel, some gullies. In the winter, you would absolutely need chains on your tires.)
Views/Scenery: 10/10 Gorgeous scenery all around. Snowcap mountains to the west, rolling green mountains all around.
Cell reception: 2 bars on Cricket at this spot. On up the road the signal completely drops.
Crowded: several other boondockers along the road but the spots are spaced out well enough that it doesn’t seem too crowded
Noise: sounds of nature
Distance from nearest town: within sight (down the mountain, about a mile by the road)
Wildlife: personally saw several elk, even a mother with a calf. There are signs warning to keep food secure due to bears, but we haven’t seen any.

We have asked to the manager to stay for the night with our RV 24” , she said yes , no problem , just park in the back of the parking at the end . There is a second lot parking next the booth cemetery , very big , forbidden for the trucks , so we were alone here ! Very friendly , a little noisy but it works . Just to know : to use the wifi , Walmart ask a phone number valide and send a sms to verify … if you haven’t a phone number us you can’t use the wifi …

In the middle of the picnic area is a blue spicot with potable water but it is about 50 yards from the parking lot so you do need a long hose

Called ahead to make sure it was ok to camp for the night & no problem. Arrived to shop a little before they closed & asked where to park, anywhere along the perimeter of the parking lot. When arrived saw what seemed like cars camping, I’m in a campervan. Also saw a truck camper. Adjacent is a gas station, Freddy’s Burgers, & Costco.

Secure space for a few motorcycles and bicycles. 2-bed Dorms cost anywhere between S/22-S/25. Private room for one is S/30 and double room for two is S/50, with shared bathrooms. They have private bath rooms too and cost a little more. Free basic breakfast. Prices for tours comparable with other tour agencies, if not cheaper. Very nice people. Definitely recommended for stay in Huaraz.

Great little peaceful spot! The dirt road in is actually pretty nice in most places … just watch the curves for washboard.
We parked down on the grass in between a van and a small RV. There were several other RVs in the parking lot.
Nice to have a pit potty nearby! 👍

Great place to stop for the night. Only a couple others here on a Monday. It isn't the most modern, but it is clean and well taken care of. $20 for RV. Bathrooms, showers, dump station, water, electric hook ups, nice open park with playground, horseshoe pits, disc golf, and other park type stuff. Easy access off the freeway. Full cell reception. Very quiet as far as the park goes, but can hear highway and trains in the distance.

Very nice view and not often visited. Trail is Mostly driven by quads. It is a rough trail . Jeep or 4x4 is recommended. Narrow, rocky and some deep pot holes. I drive F350 and certainly added some scratches. If you have a slide in camper in pickup you have to expect scratches. Trees are rubbing hard in the camper.

We were heading to the spot near the river but it starts raining so we were not confident to stay near the flow.
We decided to back up a few meters to stay in a primitive camp in the forest. There is a fire pit and place for a few campers. Trail not accessible with big rigs (lots of trees and bush)
Very nice place, we are just gonna have a night here but definitely could have stayed longer !!
1-2 bars of cell signal
Place now clean, please take you trash with you 😇
