$15/night which is steep given it’s pretty basic (ie. pit toilets) and up the road is only $5/night. But if you want direct river access, literally you can camp right beside the river, it’s a nice spot. Also they have fresh water, even in March, so we were able to fill our jugs.

To reniew the temporary admission of the motorhome is the only place in Rio de Janeiro : international aéroporto galeoa terminal 2 ground floor Receita Federal/Aduana. Should insist but after some time the chef will sign your "renovar" for 90 days more. Cost nothing but patience....then have a drink at airport before going back to the center of Rio (1 to 2 hours)

Take the sandy track heading West at this point to head to Reteti elephant sanctuary or nearby wildcamp. Track is sandy and perpendicular to the road. Big rig friendly.

going from Bolivia to Peru.
on the bolivian side everything is easy, fast and the people are friendly.
on the peruvian side the migration is easy and fast. however the aduana on the other side of the street is rather a hassle. old guy tries to make you feel uncomfortable and even if you have an insurance (we have one for almost all countries in SA incl Peru) he tries to tell you that it's not valid. after some discussion we got the aduana and then he asked us directly for money even though it says on multiple papers in the building that everything here "is free". don't let you talk into something

Here is a huge boulder with a giant painting of an Elephant which you can camp underneath. There are wild animals so be careful.

This camping spot is very close (1km) to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary but not near a village. It was shown to us by a ranger who works at the lodge and he said it was fine to camp here. No facilities whatsoever, just you and the bush.

It's also possible to camp at the sanctuary but you must give advance notice of at least 1 day.

To find this place, coming from the elephant sanctuary gate drive about 1km then take a left where the track forks, tourists do come here so the path is noticeable. There camp is less than 200m from the track so if you are close to the pin and can see a large boulder, head for that.

Beautiful laguna. Price 2500pp still and goes to the local community group. Bathrooms and shaded picnic area were spotless. One of the guys was even cleaning the info signs. Really worth a visit. The lagunas have some weird and whacky colours due to the bacteria, and you can see huge schools of brine shrimp. The flamingos were in the centre of the laguna, so too far for any good pics. Very peaceful, informative and well run. Road is fine, a bit corrugated in patches.

This small Elephant sanctuary is home to about 12 baby elephants. You can visit the sanctuary to witness a feeding during which the curious elephants will come over and investigate you with their trunks (you can touch them).

The place is not very well organised yet but hopefully this info will help you. If you turn up without notice that is okay but you may not be able to camp. Best is to give 24hrs notice if you want to camp. Alternatively you can stay at the nearby wild camp I pinned without notice.

The fee for visiting is 20 USD pp but they will accept Shillings, USD, and Euros. You will be expected to pay this whether you witness an elephant feeding or not.

Elephant feedings start at midnight and are every 3 hours exactly, they are very punctual and do not wait. Feedings last about 15 minutes then you can be shown their milk formula being prepared. You can stay for as many feedings as you like it seems but I don't think they allow viewings for the night time feedings.

We arrived at 4pm, waited until 6pm to watch a feeding, camped overnight, then returned for the 9am feeding. The elephants are roaming around all the time and came to say hi as we were having our morning coffee. All for 20 USD pp.

There are no signs here so we pinned the turnoff from the main road. When you pass under the pylons keep right (don't follow the pylons) but look at the tracks and use common sense.

The number to call to give notice is 0740805755. We are self sufficient and camping was free but it seems we were the first and we didn't need any facilities (big rig). They may charge if you need access to toilets etc.

Support these hungry creatures by visiting.

Tickets for monastery cost 200bir. But as usual in touristic place in Ethiopia several guys push you to be your guide, and anyway to charge you the cost for the rope. At least I paid 200bir extra for the rope. I declined about guides. In fact the monastery is nothing incredible. What is incredible is the view up there! And incredible is also the 15 vertical meters to climb the rock... it was my first time, I'm not fat but neither a sport man...the 15m are not impossible, but not easy.
Enjoy the experience! And the perfect and stunning gravel road to go there!

IMPORTANT: only men are allowed to climb and enter in the monastery.

we had a great couple coffees here. Luís runs the business, his grandfather started their coffee farm years ago and he’s continued it to keep growing and harvesting beans, roasting and preparing their coffee. v60 and flat white were both great. bought some beans too. 2 drinks, 1/2lb of beans and a cinnamon bun for $9. wifi spotty in the food court but might work better some days he said. power outlets to charge devices. other food in same place

Was able to get a single bed in a triple room (queen + twin beds) private bath for 45s/noc. He let me bring my moto inside the gate. Very nice manager, George. Pool, and great hammock/lounge space. Excellent location. If you aren’t interested in the party scene, the beach and scenery becomes WAY more gorgeous just N of Mancora.

Beautiful hidden clearing perfect for bikers. At the far end there's a flat pocket with raised banks on 3 sides providing cover to fit a tent and your ride.
