As others described, it’s a mostly empty beach during the day. Just after sundown some people (I believe locals) were walking around with flashlights for a few hours, concentrated at the far end of the beach by the rocks. I think they were just fishing.

I had thought that there was no access from the far end of the beach, but it turns out locals do walk through this beach at dusk. I’d recommend staying about two thirds of the way down and out of sight from the beach. In any case, an American local told me “super safe place, wouldn’t hesitate to camp there” and I had a nice time. AND, bioluminescence at night if you swim out about 25 metered :)

Very nice and clean spot near river, not far from the cave. Asked some local farmers for permission, was no problem. Very quiet at night. No toilets and poor internet.

From Haukland coming pass the tunel. Then turn left. Space for up to 6 Camping Cars. Larger rigs possible. Off Season free. During season to be paied at the ticket machine. Dont know the price during the Season. Toilets are closed off season.
Located Kust behind the dunes. Only few meters to the beatifull beach. One of the moste adorable beaches.

Showers are now ARS 10 p.p.

This showers are dangerous!!! They use an electrical water heater and you feel a little tingling when you touch the metal pipes!!! Sometimes the fuse (right behind the shower head!) triggers. Would not recommend this shower. Worst shower experience in SA.

clean large rooms. if there is power you have a warm shower. very nice staff but they sold us spoiled wine and did not refund our money.

200bir new hotel. Hot water with electrical head. Very comfy mattress.

Small hotel six rooms for 100bir. Nothing to write home about but safe compound with restaurant and bar.

we liked this spot very much and stayed three nights here.
the road is not the best but doable for every car.
we spoke with some friendly locals and the owner of the farm. everybody is welcome here.
there is a lot of space for big rigs, there is a lot of shade and a palapa for your hammocks.

Nice mechanic and staff! They have good equipment and found the right oil filter for our VW Kombi. Oil change + Filter for 45 soles (we brought our own oil). They also cleaned our air filter and washed the motor for free. And good WiFi! Recommend.

Best vegan/vegetarian food!!! Highly recommended! Enjoy! Even if you eat meat, please try this food! Amazing!!!!

Piet is still there, going strong. He changed our oil and filter and checked our brakes, no problems. very efficient and friendly. Recommended.

The night club is closed but the laundry is doing a roaring trade. Very polite and professional, it is now 140 pula for a stuffed basket, washed dried and folded. great service.

As described, still 120 pula pppn. Beautiful spot on river, we were lucky to be the only ones there. Electricity available at one central spot for any camper with a long enough line. Wifi free but not working when we were there (our curse), firewood extra.

Rode from Quetzaltenango to the border today - in general the road is bad, potholed and patchy. Some stretches of gravel and a few stretches of roadworks. But road was open all the way, no problem to pass, no fees or «fees» to be paid. Traffic is moving really slow in many sections. Spent ~ 4,5 hours from Quetzaltenango to the border (166 kms) so average speed is low!

This was a great lace to spend the night and the sound of the waves really added to the experience@

Rode from Quetzaltenango to the border today, a distance of ~ 166 kms. Bad roads indeed, potholed and patchy. A few short sections with gravel. Spent 4,5 hours on the total. Road is bad - but far from the worst I have gone through. Biggest problem is very slow moving traffic.

A place for several RVs with open view to the North Sea and a walking space (Damm) into the sea. Can be uncomfortable at stormy weather ...

Great place! Nice big private room with bathroom (hot shower). Bed is with mosquito net. you can order food or use a kitchen to prepare by yourself.13$ incl. basic breakfast. First he asked for 20$ but than we showed comment on i overlander. Parking is possible in fenced property that fits one vehicle. We have landrover 110 but bigger would not fit.
It is not marked clearly on google maps. It is on Uva Ave on unpaved road!

As described before you can get portable water from the left side of the building. There is a very good exibition/interpretive center about the Big Bend area - dont miss it. Its free and well made. Free WiFi as well - and very clean bathrooms.

Indeed a very nice place. Quiet, clean and wonderful landscape. We had a great night between the rocks. Please take care of such wonderful places. Free and very recommended.

Perfect place to take a shower - in the building behind the store are clean "public" toilets and showers. You need 8 quarters ($2) per shower/6Min. Very hot! Further to the right is a public laundry 2$ for wash and 2$ for dryer (you need lots of quarters which you can get in the shop of the RV park) Laundry closes at 5pm.

Indeed a good stop for a break and have a vanilla or chocolate milkshake. And the free WiFi is good too.

Large, sandy parking area of mirador máquina at rio petrohue. There are some trees and bushes in the middle of the parking. We parked directly behind these bushes to be not visible from the road. The river can be reached by walking down the small path. The slower part of the river offers some nice pools for swimming. We saw people fishing here, don‘t know if successful;-)

Great little place, hot showers, no WiFi as antennae fell over when I was there. But good Claro reception. Paid 300pesos a night for 2 ppl and Land Rover. Had the place all to ourselves. As picture describes.

very close to the plaza there is this sideroad. its blocked with mobile cubes, you can put them aside to enter and close behind you. its very quiet, no cars passing only schoolkids.

Before Cristopolis, on BR242 gas station with lanchonette, wifi available, ask restaurant, banos and showers very basics. water available. Park at the rear to have less noise from the road.

Nice campsite on the river, locals comes for spending the day and camping on WE, arriving late with the «balsa » from Goya, we stayed here, but did not use toilets or showers, looking bit messy... Price 200 pesos (5 usd) two persons and camper, quiet. Restaurant with good fish , owner very nice and friendly !

Entrance of one of the Gravel roads leading to Cueva de las manos. This one was the best for us as ruta 101 was horrible with corrugation and much longer.
