Great free spot for a night - plenty of spots and decently lit at night. Minimal road noise, next to a train but only heard one train go by around 9pm. We were joined by 1 other car overnight. Right below the police station so feels safe. Fast T-Mobile/sprint and Verizon coverage.

8/10. Awesome free site. Lots of space so you can really spread out from other people. Bathrooms were the cleanest pits I’ve seen. Couldn’t find any water but also didn’t really look. Fire pits for each site and easily got in in our mini bus. The site we were in was a pull through that could prob fit a big rig

Camping on the grassy area right on the lake or in the flat, grassy parking lot in front of the hotel & restaurant right across the street for Q30pp. Flush toilets and a cold shower with a pipe, but plenty of water pressure. WiFi in the restaurant. Reasonably priced beers. Claro and Tigo signal. There is a guy who will watch your dog while you go to Tikal, which means he ties the dog up in the back of the property, for a “propina.” We decided to get a room and leave our dog in the room while we visited Tikal, because it was very hot in the sun. Rooms with shared bathroom and shower (same as the camping) are Q150 per room and come with a fan. Some rooms have a shared balcony with a view of the lake. The family is very nice, but Ruby (their dog) bit our dog on the leg the second day, after they played together all day the first day. We think Ruby might be in heat or pregnant now, so may be moodier than usual. Our dog was stressed but ok, no blood drawn. Overall, nice family and property. They also have a muelle over the lake with a palapa. Nice sunsets.

Delicious peruvian food, normal price, very tasty, fresh and delicious.
Chef Nilton Izquierdo is from Peru.
Amazing Ceviche de TAMBAQUI - fish from Amazon river. Don't miss this dish!!!
They also have shrimps from Pacific ocean, and classical peruvian set:  "lomo saltado, tallarín saltado, chaufa, arroz con mariscos, picante de mariscos, chicharrón de pescado," etc.
Good vegetarian options too.
We high recommend this place.
They are inside to Food Park Vila Rio.

I was here and it is closed with wiring on the sides. I think it is bad for tent camping with my motorbike, and may be good for camper. The place is quiet.

Parking gratuit, tranquille pour passer la nuit au bord du Blavet. Jolie balade au bord de l'eau jusqu'au site des anciennes forges.

Free parking, quiet to spend the night on the edge of the Blavet river. Nice walk along the water to the site of the old forges.

Great spot! Short trail to a pond for bird viewing, pit toilets, and great Verizon cell service. Heard tons of various loud bird calls last night- not complaining!

COVID times, COVID measures. You need to book a reservation for working out or showers online or over the phone, in advance. 1-250-365-3386. If you've never been before, you need to fill out a bunch of paperwork online or on the phone.
We didn't go because we didn't book in advance and we were just driving through.
Cold river showers for us, I guess.

On South Pistol Hill Road. There is room for 4 to 5 short campers, depending how people park there. Besides walking the trail, it’s a popular biking trail. It’s easy and probably not challenging enough for serious off-road bikers but a good trail for those who don’t want challenging off-road biking. Some traffic on the unpaved road but not too bad. Several through-hikers passed through. Not totally level. Quiet.

This was a good Walmart, pretty quiet and peaceful. I stayed two nights because in general there weren’t many other overnight options. Both nights I saw other overnight sleepers as well.

Great place, nice hiking trail. Free roaming cows are no issue. Be a little better if people picked up after their dogs. Great though.

This is a nice state park campground. It has access to both hiking trails and mountain biking trails. Be aware that there is almost no cell service because it is in a canyon. It has good bathrooms and showers. Showers cost about 50 or $.75. We had a good experience here

Beautiful campground with lots of great trails nearby but pretty sure that it will not be free much longer. There is a pay station near the entrance and several signs directing you to it but it's not finished, still under construction. Also some other construction going on (looked like possibly water/electric lines) so making improvements means $$. Just be prepared to pay in season I'm guessing.

This is a nice campsite now that it has been cleaned up. I’ve never been to a campsite this trashed before! It took over an hour, but I got everything that I could see. Pack it in, pack it out. Leave No Trace!!! Please clean up after yourselves. I sure hope it doesn’t get trashed again because this is a nice site near Fish Camp.
