Great gas station. Friendly staff. He made sure we were watching the pump when he started it and as he was pumping. He claimed they were out of regular gas when we stopped and they only had premium left. No idea if that was true but it wasn’t that much more expensive. Cash or card. Easy in and out

Wonderful place to camp and swim and cool off. We had planned to stay 1 night and stayed 3. A lovely couple and their grown son live here and take care of many fruit trees. There is a side road with easy access and relatively flat camping for several vehicles, a toilet room with a flush bucket, and a patio with table, chairs & electrical outlet we used to heat up water for coffee. There is even a sweat lodge frame by the river, and a rope swing to jump in it!

The family is super friendly and the mom is an amazing cook - refreshing beverages and huge, delicious meals at great prices. Camping is 30pesos per person and includes use of facilities incl the river. Locals come for the day to swim and picnic. We were the only campers at this time.

There are hot springs very close for 10 pesos and 50 pesos. We soaked at the 10 pesos one because the more famous 50 pesos hot spring didn't allow dogs.

Small biting bugs come out at dusk and dawn. Using insect repellent or staying covered did the trick.

They have 1 German Shepard here which is pretty chill. The neighbors dogs do come over sometimes but they are friendly too. The weekend was busier than midweek but it's pretty mellow here every day, not as crowded as the neighbors. Highly recommend this special place and special hosts.

Very clean but well used so there is a fair amount of traffic. There’s a little farmers market shop in walking distance and the peaches are delicious. Play area for kids. Stayed one night and besides traffic we weren’t bothered.

Very nice lunch spot with beautiful views but way too windy especially for a rooftop tent.

A terrific find! $10 cash only to camp overnight; if the station is unmanned there is a box to deposit the fee. Spots are grouped at the entrance and then spread around the rim. Stunning views, peaceful. The road around the rim is flat but very bumpy; the wind blows hard when it blows.

there is a potable water faucet next to the sidewalk leading to the entrance, right on the edge of the parking lot. it is at the end of the stone wall that parallels the path to the entrance. I checked with the staff and they confirmed this is potable water and rvers were welcome to use it. although they did say their water supply is somewhat limited so they ask that you not take more than 10 gallons. The visitor center is fantastic also recommend taking the time to go inside and check it out.

The distance between the campground and the Altar trailhead is 10 kilometres. National observatory still closed (April 2022). We did not care for the other attractions, they may or may not be available. We were the only guests. We didn't see any condors.

High Sierra climate: cold nights and changing fresh winds during the mornings, quieter late afternoon.

Price: day use MXN 54 per person per day. Overnight camping implies two day charge for the first night. We (2 people) stayed two nights and paid MXN 324 (2×3×54) in total.

!!! Warning: Avoid this place!!!

This is a hostel and a restaurant. Don't sleep there and don't eat there.

His kitchen is horribly filthy but the craziest thing is that the owner attacked me, He is a violent man that need to be in jail.

I stayed there only 2 hours and run away from his place after a struggle with him. He tried to force me to get to sleep early (8 pm) since he is going to sleep too, and when I refused he violently grab me, lift me up from the table while I was eating, and tried to kick me out of his hospedaje. He stopped only when I grabbed a glass and screamed for help. Some other guest came to help me.

After much arguing, in which he claimed that using the kitchen cost money in addition to accommodation he returned my money only when I started filming him on video.

Please do yourselves a favor and do not come to this place, such people should be behind bars.

Large parking lot and very quiet. Usually a few other vans parked overnight. Bathrooms and trash cans available. Keep it clean so we don’t lose this spot!

Good spot for us, even spent an extra night because of the amenities. Paid 300p per night for two adults, two kids, two dogs in a camper van. Fair price in my opinion. Restaurant, really slow wifi, playground, good area to walk the dogs, hot showers, flush toilets, and shady palapas with trash cans. Waaay better than Rancho Grande @Gonzaga Bay. I’m not for overpaying either, but this place is worth it if you want basic amenities. The $500p price is for full size RV’s I believe.

Spent one night here. Beautiful spots on a beautiful secluded beach. As noted in past comments, the road to the place is rough, and the road over the hill is very rough! We had a 4wd truck with camper in the back and it was fine, just had to go slow.

No cell service and there was no wifi. It says you can pay for wifi but I didn’t see any wifi signal down where the campsites were.

Entrance is just at the boat launch near an RV park. There is a gate (piece of chain) the guy in the house there came out and let us in. We paid when we left. $150 pesos for 1 night. Not much garbage when we went. The pit toilets didn’t look very inviting so we didn’t use those.

Overall beautiful place on the water to spend a night.

Road in to the trailhead is pretty rutted now but I saw a mini van and some other small cars at the trailhead nearby. I made it easily in my 4Runner. There are a few other spots just past this main big one that could a vehicle. Need high clearance for those. And then just past that the road become pretty rough.

Felt safe as a solo female traveler. Lots of grass for my two dingos. Flying J had a good selection of fruit and coffee machines. Gas prices were very reasonable. Cell service was 1-3 bars ATT 5G- I couldn’t refresh Instagram but could watch Netflix? Instagram: @KangaAndTheRu

Really beautiful spot on the river. Easy to get to with our 22" van. There is a boat ramp, so longer vehicles should be able to easily use that to turn around to exit. Several trains went by at night, so it wasn't exactly quiet. But all in all a nice place to boondock

Amazing place! Still 8.72 USD per persons. With our High Top Toyota Land Cruisers we were able to camp in the nice grassy camping area. The hot showers with good pressure were the best we had in a long time. Clean Toilets with fitting toilet seats and toilet paper (we come from Mexico so we really appreciate this). Nice swimmingpool, a pond with a croc. The owners were really extremely nice!! Free tea and coffee in the dining area and they cook very good food (better tell them in advance if you eat at the restaurant, as there is no menu, they just cook the same for everyone).
Use bug spray, in this whole area there are nasty botlass flies around that will bite you!

The rock is big but one of us got out and facilitated. Our Promaster van cleared it, no problem. It was a beautiful spot. Highway noise and we heard a train go by once around 8p. Couldn’t hear the highway from inside the van. Beautiful creek beside the spot.

Looks like everyone was here during summer hehe
Well yes this is an awesome spot to stop and to camp inside away from the wind/rain and to get a few degrees more. Still clean in 2022! I think someone tried to sort of block the front door but… why? Let this living museum open :) (and clean!)

This was a great little camp spot right off the highway. It was pretty spacious. We camped at the base of one of the hills for the night enjoyed the scenery and the stars. It is perfect for an overnight. We had no trouble finding a place for our sprinter van.

Very nice spot, peaceful with a good lake view. Chatted with a local who said it was fine to stay overnight. Checked out the Port Colborne waterfront area first, but didn't get a good feel there, so moved on to this spot - very glad I did!

There were some comings and goings in the night - seems like it's a popular spot to come for a smoke. And an early morning boat launch. But no hassles.

Be aware that there are some spots of deep sand in the parking area, so best to stay on the hard-packed part.

Nothing special but a good and expensive options is you want to stay close to the city. But there aren’t a lot of options..

Showers are good and clean and the place looks nice.
