Thé location is close to the theatre Sucre. This old colonial hotel was renovated but keep this old fashion room and furniture. The big advantage for me is that he has a close garage accessible directly from the interior of the hotel. At the reception the guy who receveur me is a fan of motorcycle. I did not pay for the Garage. The night cost me 18 USD for a very colonial room

Nice camp, it’s tight for RTT (Toyota Hilux) and we luckily found a decent flat spot. Ext to the covered terraces. Only bucket showers but were given plenty of hot water. WiFi by the reception. We trekked the chimps from here so didn’t need to drive anywhere. It’s a great spot in the centre of the forest. We paid $15 pppn NB. The drive down to the camp is steep and in some disrepair. It would not be suitable for all overlanders including big rigs.

We stayed here for 2 nights after our evening game drives and left early morning to do morning game drives! Very convenient location for wildlife drives because you are in the are of highest wildlife density!!!
you are quick in the are where they usually spot lions and leopard! And there is also a shoebill track you should drive very early in the morning...just follow the lakeshore! In the evening there were jackal, drinking giraffes and buffalos and hippos in the water! Fabulous in the middle of the wildlife! But be careful because of the lions!!!
we pitched our tent after sunset!
The campsite is just a toilet and nothing else! We are not sure if we may be missed the real campsite or if this was the 40 $ campsite! For us it would be an argument if a ranger would have come. We would have said it is so basic we thought it is public camping 🙈To be honest, it is a joke offering just a toilet and charge 40$!
But taking the risk was worth it because the drive to the other campsite would be 30 km and was less nice!!! Here you have beautiful sunset when the sky is clear! Enjoy 😊

Coming from Cotahuasi Canyon via Charcana you need to go this way to Pausa. At least at the moment it is not possible to drive the AR 603 northbound to Oyolo. We asked a local and he confirmed that the gravel road via Corculla and San Jose de Ushua is good to drive. Actually road works are going on here and the whole road is being broadened - it seems the northern way of the AR 603 is no more maintained.

We drove the road from Cotahuasi to Charcana and the following gravel road from Charcana to the connection at the AR 603 without any problems. Although it's the season of rain both roads are well maintained and road works are going on. Seems as they are bituminizing the whole way. We totally agree...its one of the most scenic drives we ever did! We did it with our Iveco Daily 4x4...no 4x4 needed, but we had to use the reduction several times. Please note: the connection to Oyolo and Pausa seems no more possible northbound - you need to drive south and take the currently well maintained gravel road via Corculla to Oyolo and further to Pausa (we marked the entrance to this road on iOverlander)

Coming from the Cotahuasi Canyon on the way to Pausa it's hard to find a place to stay as the Camino is quite narrow. We were looking for an alternative to the plaza in Corculla which is not so great when you have a dog that wants to stretch his paws and run a bit after a day of bumpy gravel. Here we parked beside a currently not maintained soccer field and felt save at a quiet night.

little turn off from rt 52. Take the site road to the village patacal. along the dry river bed are some nice spots for the night. the people here are very nice. a great alternative to the loud and crowded Purmamarca. despite the big road is close, it is very quiet at night.

We used this as our exit from the Constellation loop. The loop was great with no shortage of wild camp spots.

This entrance is 5 km from town on a rocky road, in some ways it was worse than the Constellation track.

Great spot on the bank of a reservoir. Accessible by 2wd cars even if it is a bit sandy. Locals come here to fish, swim and wash their cars. When the night comes everybody goes back home. Some trees for shade in the morning.
Very peaceful and unexpectedly nice for a border zone.

We stayed three nights here. Nando is friendly guy. He gave us a spot to park our small RV (20x10ft). You can us their Kitchen ( fridge etc.) & toilets, hang out in a hammock read or use their WiFi. It‘s a well looked after place. The toilets are clean. You can buy a gallon of drinking water for a dollar. The popoyo surf break is a 15min. walk down the beach. The beach is right in front.

They stopped us and tried to make an infraction, as we speak spanish we argued that he wasn’t right. He left us leave.

We LOVED this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We parked directly at the beach, had Wifi, could use (very clean) shower and bathroom, and plugged in our van (you chan choose between 220V or 110V).

10’000 COP pP. Worth every penny.

Margarita is helpful in every way and makes incredibly good Pizzas! Try the one with seafood 🦞🍤

Totally recommended!!

Couldn’t find any place to refill our water tank. Tried here at the “lavado” and could refill our fix water tank (~250liters) for 2’000 COP.
Clean water with good pressure.

(they offer to wash your vehicle for 20’000COP)

Mechanic shop that specialises in repairs of brakes on all types of vehicles: cars, bikes, vans etc. Big garage with cafe inside. friendly, honest, and helpful staff, some speak English which was very helpful. Repaired our brake booster in a day, initially thought it was repaired but after driving a block we could still hear a noise so we returned it and they had another go, second time successful. did not charge for additional manual labor, and even drove us to an errand we needed to run that day whilst they were continuing the repairs.

We asked a guard to stay for a night, he checked with staff at shop who said it was fine. Staff are super friendly and kind, she showed us the bathroom with toilet, sink, and soap, and provided the wifi password. We parked at back of uno petrol station where we had access to electricity from under light pole and it was a bit away from the street and quiet. Although there is a guard, we noticed a person come around to try to open cars around us when the guard was elsewhere so we remained vigilant regardless.

What a great little spot hustled between expensive hotels for 100p. Camping is right on the beach under the shade of trees. Very clean and basic, with cold showers, Bucket flushing toilets, fire cooking and no wifi or electricity! We loved it here!! Max was very friendly and helpful greeting you with a smile. Recommend camping here.
