instagram.com/vanlifediaries | This is a dead end road with a large gravel area next to it and behind the barriers. There are a few semis here tonight. Seems like a good stop for a quiet night. |

sarahwbolton | Overnight parking isn’t allowed here. Use the Junction Restaurant parking lot. This is a nice day spot, though, with great access to the free “hippie hot springs” (best ones are across the bridge/river from this spot). Port-potties in the parking lot. |

sarahwbolton | As described. We asked in the restaurant and we’re told it’s fine to park. There were a couple vans, a box truck and a small RV (both of which seemed to be more permanent fixtures), and several big rigs here the night we stayed. We parked along the bank closer to the restaurant and weren’t bothered. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant but they were very nice. Good cell service. Close to downtown. |

gerberding | This is a very nice location and we mostly enjoyed our two nights here. There are cool beaches, hikes and views all around. We got lucky and found a spot in the mostly full campground when we pulled in on a Sunday night in March. Wonderful sounds of surf all night! On the down side: There were three large RV's that seemed to have long-term residents who may be working in the area. Multiple dogs were roaming the campground freely and our first night folks talked loudly and ran generators till 10:45pm. Others ran generators at 4:30 am. As it's a BLM campground, it seems a bit lawless. Never saw an authority or camp host. Bathrooms were a bit dirty, but did have some TP. No water or cell service here. A mixed bag in a great spot. |

Calderescapes | As mentioned, large lot, great views if the lake. There a couple of benches to watch the sunset's colours. Nice front desk staff. Asked for our driver's license number, phone number and plate number. Said one night is fine. Need permission for more than that. Restrooms were available. Free Wifi from hotel but inconsistent, maybe if you park closer... LTE signal. |

dwnibbelink | This seems to be a well know place, down on the low road off the higher gravel road, got there mid afternoon and other vans showed up later but 200 yards between sites. A little trash but not bad. Only one lone truck drove by the 2 ½ days I was there. Lots of privacy. Trains are long but do not disturb the sleep. Would return. |

katherine929193 | Had a hard paddle in early this morning after being stranded for a couple days on Isla del Carmen. After we lifted our kayak into the Marina, thirsty and hungry, a security guard biked up to us almost immediately telling us to move our kayak, calling us a taxi, and telling us where to wait. It would have seemed nice if he seemed to care. There was an air about him that suggested he really, really didn’t want us here. The lady in the store was nice, but security is anything but sympathetic. |

katherine929193 | As described. Free, near the airport. Had to enter from the highway nearly due west of the point (after the dirt mounds and bridge if you’re heading south out of Loreto). Convenient for us to kayak from. |

kitfield.vernon | When you pull onto chimney creek rd, you’ll see a few pull offs with signage that each fit a single vehicle. We kept driving, found a road off to the right that immediately forked with a fence and gate to the left, and more open space to the right. We went to the right and pulled our van around the little loop. No one joined us for the 20 hours we were there, but there were a few vehicles who drove by at a distance. We passed by and spoke to a BLM employee who told us to enjoy our stay, which was encouraging and reassuring. The spot was fantastic! Beautiful views, air, vegetation, and silent isolation. Based on previous we expected coyotes, but we didn’t see or hear any. It definitely got windy at night, so tents might not be ideal. Highly recommend! |

tanguy.adriaenssen | Moto camping spot only as you need to pass between and under trees! Off the road a little ways close to the Santa Rita hot springs we found this quiet little spot with abandoned bee hives (2 still had residents the rest were empty).

bellinghausen | So beautiful! Started to set everything up to stay here with our 4x4 with rooftop tent. Our 2 Toddlers loved it up until we got attacted by sand fleas. Lots of them! They were biting all of us so badly that we dicided to pack everything back up. Added some pictures. If you have enough buck rebellend and don‘t mind them then definitely stay here for a night! |

bellinghausen | Most expensive place for us. 12000 colones for one night. As soon as we arrived and started to set everything up the mosquitoes where eating us alive. Our 2 toddler looked pretty bad and we had lots of bites aswell. So only took a quick shower which was nice and clean before quickly hiding in our rooftop tent. In the morning it was still so bad we could not eat breakfast and left immediately. So for ONLY sleeping there it was expensive. Oh well. |

Onwheels | We stayed at the Arube Lodge campsite for 5 nights. The campsite looked a bit neglected. Still stands out from most of the camps in the area. Still KES 900 ppn. The site is separated from the access to the neighboring lodges and camps by a (narrow) hedge. At night it is quiet with the exception of the howling of hyenas, etc ... Unfortunately there is only 1 place directly on the river. Cold beer with KES 470 very expensive. |
