We didn’t venture to the farther parking spot. The road and bridge were a bit noisy, but traffic is very sparse. Aurora borealis put on a good show. 🤗

We were stopped here for road construction from 11:15 to 4pm. Not sure how long will continue. All traffic was allowed through at 4pm, the police did stop some vehicles but they only checked our driver license and took a quick look in the back of the van.

Good place to stay, but there are billion mosquitoes. You can only stay more invisible if you put next to the river, but for that need 4x4 and will depend water level

Large field with a few fire pits and picnic tables at the Hennepin Canal between Lock 21 and Bridge 14. Toilets. The field is a gentle hillside. There is a nearby for-fee campground for tents.

We had issues with our hired van paperwork and they were really helpful to help us sort it out! All the staff were really pleasant and friendly.

Small parking lot for the Ventura River Preserve on Rice Rd. Can be busy during the day, but quiet at night. You may hear the horses across the road banging against the gates. Beautiful sunsets and river bottom and mountain views. Nice hikes in the preserve and you will find there also swimming holes, best in spring and early summer, then they dry slowly out.

Nice place for a stop over. They opened a room for shower and toilette. But the best thing was the spätzli Swiss Style for 8.000 Tsh. Very nice due to the Swiss owner!

The carretera austral is temporaly closed due to construction works going on for improving and paving the road. There is a „desvio“ going to Lago Laparent for 27 Kilometers through beautiful scenery. The road ends up at a bridge (5 tons, 2,5 meter high) coming from the north. The road is smaller but very nice and easy to drive. You come along at several lakes and farms and cristal clear water. You even can see some condors. The R7 opens again at 5pm. Safe travels.

This Petrobras offers free WiFi.

Bathrooms are paid but free for customers, just ask. After filling up our tank they also let us fill out water canisters here, but that was just a favor. Worth asking!

Also parked near the church. Cute town. Quiet night. Bathrooms in plaza were dirty at night but then were clean by morning. Wifi available but you'll have to ask for passwords/buy something from either the cafe or the cyber.

We felt very unsafe sleeping here. Lots of drug addicts walking around, yelling, there was even a naked lady. This place is in a very poor neighborhood, we do not recommend you spend a night there. We moved in the middle of the night to go elsewhere because it was getting too much.

I guess more quiet than the other campsite near the highway. I could barely hear the trucks on the highway. Spent one night, all good

The friendly coordinator at CBT told us that wildcamping is forbidden around Arslanbob, and that the park rangers are actively looking for tourists. He also gets calls from the rangers after they find people camping, so he friendly asked us only to camp at the fair ground, since it's allowed here. There were some locals BBQ'ing, but other than that it was quiet, no-one bothered us.

Close to lake Sabgiyn Dalay Nuur and the dunes of Mongol Els, the longest range of sand dunes in Mongolia. We took the road from Bayan Uul to Khökhmorit and from there to the east.

Very nice campground, but it's not free. Since the showers and bathroom were closed, we decided to park our van for the night, but not pay for it. No one came to check. WiFi works and is fast.

Worth a visit. We paid 29000 for 2 for the small tour. You can do a 1 hour/2 hour/3 hour/4 hour tour, all with a guide. Prices are cheaper when you're in group.

Coincidentally bumped into this nice place. There are severall food stands for lunch (empanadas, burritos, pizza, deserts...). Cheap and good food. Don't know if it is also open in the evening.

Basic clean room. 80 soles for a room with 4 beds and shared bathrooms (paid 60 soles after bargain). The toilet was clean but no toilet paper. There were 2 sinks to clean dishes or clothes outside. And storages to put our bicycles and panniers while we did Choquequirao trail (no extra fee)

We agree that the camping sites are great considering you are in a big city. But the faculties are really run down/ we were very happy to have our own ones in our car. 400 ARS per night.

Guess what it is now 10.000 TSH. So save some shillings for that council fee. We wanted to get a receipt, of course they don’t give one.... 😄😄

Exiting Tanzania - Entering Malawi
Tanzania side - it took us 15 minutes - no problem at all!
Malawi Side: 75 USD for visa (expiry date is not filled, so I don’t know if 1 or 3 months 😄😄); Very nice customs officer filled out all the forms and give us a receipt to pay the RAF (road access fee) at the bank counter (our Unimog was classified as a ‚small vehicle‘ so we only had to pay 20 USD - only payable in USD - they won’t accept Dollar Notes equal or older than the 2009 series); standing in line to pay the RAF took us around 45 minutes.
There is also a Money Exchange Bureau - good for us after we had to pay a 170 USD fine in Tanzania (never miss the weight bridge with vehicles above 3,5 t - even if they wave you through! 😬)

parked the other side of highway from Meyer, empty building with sign for RV parking, in front of Fire Dept. there is an oil change place in front of Fred Meyer too which was very good. Noisy at times but convenient for a night. WiFi, bathroom in supermarket

There are three pullout areas in close proximity to the location mentioned so there is space for more then a single car. No signs so seems ok for a night. Road is used, so there is traffic noise. Can walk to a little beach for sunset behind the pullouts. Also small park down the road.

Everybody praises Midhat Mahir and Omar. Our experience is that they are also in for a scam. Trying to sell 1st class cabin. (There is no 1st class cabin). Advice: go around and shop tickets etc. do the custom and immigration yourself as Omar will sometimes try to con you.
