Very nice place to stay with good restaurant nearby. There is a shopping mall only a few streets away where also you can find a stop of the hop-on hoff of bus tour. Felt really safe.

Tip for getting your FMM tourist permit (allows you to stay in Mexico for longer period). This is different from a vehicle import permit. If you need an FMM for your trip - DO NOT LEAVE THE BORDER AREA UNTIL YOU GET IT.

We drove this border crossing incredibly quickly, we had nothing to declare, they quickly searched our van and waved us through. Next thing we know we entered Mexico. We quickly realized that we need our Canadian passports checked to get our 180 day tourist visa. We paid 3$ street parking and attempted to walk back into the border zone to go through customs... 45 minutes later, after speaking to 5 security guards and border guards we were escorted down to get our visas and pay the $27 tourist fee. Initially they all insisted that we had to walk back into the USA and walk back into Mexico to go through customs... Well there was no way I was going to leave this country without our vehicle. Finally a guard walked us down to the customs agent. As we got our tourist visas completed (totally an easy process), I asked the woman how do we do this better next time- she smiled and said she gets this question a lot, we weren’t the first!

THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS: you can take the “something to declare” lane when you first enter the border, then park your car, and walk into customs.

OR park your car on the USA side, walk into Mexico, go through customs to get your FMM visa and then walk back into the USA to drive your car over.

Either way works. I asked her why there is no signage for FMM, she nodded and smiled agreeing that this is an issue. Haha, a good welcome to Mexico :)

Good clean overnight stop with attached restaurant. Cost 30,000 COP for a room overlooking the river. We'd stay here again. About 130 km from Medellin.

Can confirm almost everything that has already been said. If you made it this far, you're probably driving a capable vehicle. There is a steep climb going down on the way in and up on the way out. Low gears would be good but maybe not absolutely essential depending on your car/weight.

The hotsprings are beautiful and we were the only ones there. Nobody there to charge us, clean water and great temperature. Absolutely worth the detour.

One of our favorite campsites in the Southwest. Camping along Mexican Mountain Road with a great view over the San Rafael River Canyon with colorful cottonwoods. Absolutely remote and quiet. The area around Buckhorn Draw is very scenic and only few people know about up to now. There was only 1 tent at the San Rafael Bridge Campground.

after we realized that there is no campsite in this area, and we didn't want to camp inside the park, we just went into the bush looking for a spot. nice place to camp outside the park, isolated and quiet. we heard alot of animals but none showed. road is a bit sandy but not too deep. just follow the tracks until you find a spot.

Easy border. No need for a fixed. Just be patient and friendly. You don’t have to bribe as well. 55€ for the visa, 10€ for the passavant, 1€ for parking at the douane, 24€ for the 10 day insurance (big Landrover, there are insurance for 3 days, 10 days, 20 days and 30 days).

Official free campground on top of a moutain ridge, quite large (50+). Features a water tap, but nothing else. 2WD access.
The asphalt road to get here is a semi dead end - it continues for about 2km towards a village where it ends - but before the village there is an entrance to a 4WD road downhill on the left side.

If you can't or don't want to go to Bethlehem with your own vehicle, you can take the bus from the Damascus Gate East Jerusalem bus station. Bus 231 takes you to Bethlehem, from its final station it is a 15min-walk to Nativity Church. A one-way ticket costs 7 NIS and is purchased directly from the driver.
The signs on the bus station are not necessarily correct, so just look for a bus number 231 and hop on in when it pulls into a station.
You need your passport / imigration card - there might be a check on the border.

Nice large flat spot with fire ring where even big rigs would fit with great views over the mountains. There is no shade so fine I presume for not too warm weather either way there are few shaded spots down the road in Stanislaus forrest. It is a 30 minutes drive from the NP visitor center down the valley and 10 minutes from the fork heading towards mono lake via tioga pass.

A little expensive is an understatement, if your RV is more than 20 ft your only choices are $124 a night inland and $162 a night waterfront.

I parked my Prostar in the parking lot and went to sleep. Two police cruisers rousted me out of bed with flashlights in the windows at 1:30 in the morning. Park closed at dark was the order so off I went to the closest rest stop.

We came at night and parked near this GPS point. Pretty flat and lots of room. There is a loop road right near this point with old camp ground spots with tables. However the road is old pavement, the camp spots had some soft ground so I would be cautious if it's wet. Would be better for tent camping there. There is trash stuck along the road but otherwise nice. distant hum of the highway and nice being right on the lake.

Great spot right by the river. Stayed on the sandy spot just before the rocks. Trail definitely needs 4x4 as it's pretty washed out. The Hoh River did rise a bit overnight due to heavy rain, so be aware. Several ok spots along the road though...

beautiful campsite at a farm, with cows and chickens walking around. the owners are really friendly. you can use a large indoor area to cook and make a fire.
you have to cross the bridge, and then you'll see it on the right.
